RPL
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

What is RPL
Both formal training and on-the-job experience provide a wealth of knowledge and skills. Let Institute of Training help turn your experience gained through volunteering, past employment, or even recreational and social activities into a formally recognised qualification. Life is short - don't waste precious hours in a classroom re-learning what you already know. Our professional assessors will assess and document your knowledge and experience to see whether it aligns with your desired nationally recognised qualification or unit of competency.
Why RPL?
Recognition of Prior Learning offers a range of benefits
Receive your qualification sooner than if you were to study Save on training costs by only paying for assessment Use your past experience towards an accredited qualification If you require gap training, it will be based on your current situation Assessment is based on your personal circumstances

How does RPL Work?
RPL is an assessment of your existing skills and knowledge.
Unlike standard assessment for which you answer questions, provide case studies and complete physical activities according to pre-mapped requirements, RPL assessors collect evidence of accomplishment from your experience. The evidence is mapped to ensure that it meets the requirements of the relevant training package to help you obtain a nationally recognised qualification in five simple steps:
-
01. INITIAL ASSESSMENT
Upon submission of your resume, an assessor will assess your qualifications and experience to see whether you are eligible for RPL. -
02. EVIDENCE GATHERING
Once you have been deemed eligible for RPL, your assessor will guide you with regards to the evidence required. Submit as much evidence as possible for review. -
03. MAPPING
Upon receipt of your evidence, the assessor will map it against the requirements of the training package to assess competence. -
04. GAP TRAINING / FURTHER EVIDENCE
If your assessor identifies gaps in your evidence. You will have the opportunity to provide additional evidence, undertake an RPL interview (competency conversation), or complete further tasks. -
5. CONCLUSION
On completion of the above steps, your application will enter into a final administrative process. During this phase, your application will be assessed to ensure the correct processes were followed and that it adheres to the consistency and quality of assessment decisions. Upon approval, your qualification will be issued.
